The May 7 commencement ceremony headlined the class of 2022’s senior speaker, FSC’s 84th Honorary Chancellor and Dr. Rebecca Saulsbury-Bravard as the Miller Distinguished Professor.

Lexi Potter, a political science major and Fulbright scholar, won senior speaker and spoke on the positives of her time at Florida Southern.

“When you embrace the challenges you’re being presented with, you end up with something beautiful,” Potter said during her speech. “Florida Southern has been a place where we are able to challenge ourselves and each other.”

Universal Parks CEO named 2022 Honorary Chancellor

2021-2022 SGA President Allen Shorey introduced Universal Parks & Resorts CEO Tom Williams as both the 2022 commencement speaker and the 84th Honorary Chancellor in the college’s history.

Under his leadership, Universal opened parks in Singapore, Osaka and Beijing.

The last Honorary Chancellor named was in 2019 claimed by astronaut Dr. Mae C. Jemison before the pandemic.


Bravard announced Miller Distinguished Professor

Bravard, an associate professor of English, won the Miller Distinguished Professor award on the grounds of her “student-centered” learning experience.

“The passion she brings to advising students seeking highly competitive scholarships inspires them to go beyond themselves,” Provost Brad Hollingshead said.
