The Career Center is hosted their annual Law School Caravan on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Honeyman Pavilion. Approximately 60 different law schools attended the event which allowed FSC law school hopefuls to network and have questions answered.

Admissions representatives from various schools assisted students in the application process, provided information on admission guidelines and allowed students to gain insight on how a first or second year student with an interest in attending a law school should prepare themselves.

“Even students who are just starting in their educational career are able to ask questions, connect with admission representatives for insight and what they could be doing now to strengthen their application for later,” Cara Cima, Director of Career Development, said.

Some of the law schools that attended the event included the Ave Maria School of Law, Charleston School of Law, Hofstra School of Law, Liberty University School of Law, Penn State Law and Regent University School of Law.

While the Law School Caravan provided insight for students interested in law specifically, the Career Center’s MOC Interview Day scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 5 will provide a more general opportunity towards career insight.

“It really is a great opportunity to bring together students and our employer partners to provide a learning opportunity for students to refine and enhance their interviewing skills,” Cima said.

Participating students will engage in a 30-minute interview with one of the FSC employer partners. For the first 20 minutes, the employer will ask the student traditional and commonly asked interview questions.

The final 10 minutes of the MOC Interviews will provide feedback to the student, These interviews will provide students insights to their strength and weaknesses in the interview process and allow them to generate ideas and suggestions on what they should improve on.

Although students will interview with real college recruiters, the MOC Interview Day provides an interview experience without the stress of having a job on the line.

Some of the local employers that will be at MOC Interview day will include the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, GEICO, Auto Owners Insurance, Chastain-Skillman, Northwestern Mutual, Enterprise Holdings, Lakeland Regional Health, the Lakeland Ledger and Summit.

The MOC interviews will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Career Center. Students must sign up through the link provided on the Career Center’s website. Sign-ups are on a first come, first served basis.

For students who will be attending MOC Interviews, it is encouraged to attend the Jumpstart Your Future: Internship Success Series on Tuesday, Oct. 4th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Career Center.
