3-10-14. That’s what the signs posted around campus said in bright white ink. A giant question mark left the entire school confused as to what was happening. Only a small script at the bottom of the posters gave any clue as to what was going on.

3-28-14.

And, of course, that had the whole school guessing too.

“I didn’t really know what to think,” freshman Jordan Honc said. “There wasn’t much information, so I wasn’t really sure how to feel.”

Then ACE explained the signs. They were for the surprise concert which would be released to the public on March 10. The concert is scheduled for March 28.

In the weeks leading up to the big reveal, all the students were trying to uncover the secret. They asked their friends and teachers. They interrogated the members of ACE, who kept their mouths shut. The secret rested with them.

When the much-anticipated date came, curious students gathered at the bandshell for the reveal. Free pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and beans set the mood. Then ACE counted down- three, two, one, and the secret was out.

Country singer Easton Corbin will be performing March 28.

With top hits such as “A Little More Country Than That” and “Lovin’ You Is Fun,” Florida native Corbin has sold over 470,000 albums and over 2 million singles as of 2013.

A UF grad, Corbin moved to Nashville right after college. He worked at an Ace Hardware store and performed at writers’ nights. He gained most of his fame in 2012 after releasing the chart-topping “All Over the Road.”

Corbin won American Country Awards’ “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “Music Video by New Artist” in 2010 for “A Little More Country Than That.”

“I love country music,” Honc said. “I’m really excited that he’s coming but I’m really bummed out that I can’t be there. It’s the end of the world for me.”

Honc is a member of the Mocs softball team, which has a game the night of the concert.

Opening up for Corbin are newcomers Adam Sanders and Cadillac Three.

A Lake City native, Sanders moved to Nashville to pursue his passion for music. After just two years he landed his first publishing deal and is currently a staff songwriter with Big Yellow Dog Music and has had songs recorded by superstars like Luke Bryan.

Cadillac Three is composed Jaren Johnston, Kelby Ray, and Neil Mason. Between 2011 and 2013, Johnston co-wrote “You Gonna Fly” for Keith Urban and “Southern Girl” for Time McGraw. Their debut single, “The South,” featured guest vocals from Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, and Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band. The group is mostly known for their Southern rock vibes.

With all three of these great artists, the day on the posters-3-28-14-will definitely be one to remember.
