Moccasin goal keeper Benny Yusufoglu blocks a shot attempt against the Nova Southeastern Sharks. The German native is allowing 0.83 goals per game through his first 12 games of the season. His eight shoutouts this season are the second most in school history.

MEN’S SOCCER

A nine game winning streak at the start of the season was the best season start in Florida Southern history since 1997.

Throughout their nine game win streak the Mocs picked up victories over Trinity Baptist, USC Aiken, Montevallo, Newberry, Lynn, Rollins, Saint Leo, Flagler, and Tampa. They lost back-to -back games against Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern before picking up wins against Mary, Embry-Riddle, and Eckerd.

They concluded their season with losses against Palm Beach Atlantic, Barry, and Lynn. 

However, the team fell to two ranked teams ending that streak. The Mocs fell short to Lynn in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Quarterfinals ending their season with a 12-5 record.

Midfielder Christoph Gums earned a spot on the 2018 All SSC Men’s Soccer first-team, while Foster Appiah, defender, and James Meehan, forward, earned a spot on the second-team. Gums also earned a spot on the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. 

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Women’s Soccer ended their season with a 5-10-1 record.

The Mocs opened their season with a loss againt Flagler before defeating Shorter for their first victory of the season. Their five victories came against; Shorter, Lynn, Sint Leo, and Embry-Riddle, and Eckerd. Their best win came in 3-0 victories against Saint Leo and Lynn. 

Defender Gaelyn Crowder earned a spot on the All SSC second-team. The senior ended her career starting 46 of 49 games played. As a defender she had one goal and one assist.

Defender Caitlin Quaempts earned a spot on the Google Cloud Academic All-District team. On the field, the junior started 14 of 16 games, scoring two goals against Palm Beach Atlantic. In the classroom, she holds 4.00 GPA majoring in Biology and Spanish.
