In a back and forth affair at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, the Mocs were able to outlast Eckerd as they defeated the Tritons 85-80 to advance to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship Game.
The Tritons held a 65-56 lead with just over four minutes left in the game after they put together a 20-4 run. The Mocs were able to respond as Seth Evans hit a three to cap a quick 8-0 run and pull the Mocs within one with 2:33 to play. From there, the two teams would exchange blows before clutch shooting by the Mocs eventually put Eckerd away.
Capers led the Mocs with 29 points including going 7-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to help force overtime. Evans finished with 21 points as he went 5-9 from three-point range, including back-to-back treys to start the overtime period.
