Robin Williams’ death has still been a sad topic of discussion in the entertainment world. People are still talking about it, trying to grasp the concept that such a funny and inspirational man succumbed to depression.

Williams was found dead in his home on August 11. Investigators later confirmed that Williams did take his own life by hanging himself. He was 63 years old.

Williams was famous for his starring roles in movies such as Aladdin, Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting.

Nearly two weeks after his death, the world is still talking about it and remembering Williams’ tributes to the entertainment world.  On August 24, the MTV Video Music Awards attempted to pay tribute by showing a 23-second slideshow of pictures of Williams to a Coldplay song. Most called the tribute odd, disrespectful and unplanned.

However, the Emmy’s followed the next day with a highly liked tribute.  With the help of Billy Crystal, the awards show paid a respectful tribute to Williams.

“He made us laugh hard, every time you saw him,” Crystal said during the tribute. “His brilliance was astounding. I used to think if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on for eight seconds I would be OK.”

Crystal spoke about his late friend from the heart, even describing a favorite memory.

To me, the ongoing tributes are not a surprise, considering his death shocked the world of entertainment. Aside from the MTV tribute, almost all have paid their respects to Williams in a respectful way. All of these tributes aren’t a bad thing, either.

Williams was a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment world, a driving force behind many successful films. I mean, imagine Aladdin without the Genie? It wouldn’t be the same.

Williams’ death was not only heartbreaking because he was a great actor, but because he committed suicide.

I’m almost positive that nobody ever saw this death coming. I recall sitting in my room on Twitter when I saw several tweets pop-up announcing the news of his death. My eyes widened, and all I could think was, “suicide? How could this be?” You’d never think you’d be saying Robin Williams and suicide in the same sentence.

Williams’ death brings light to a very serious topic in today’s world. Depression is known as a silent killer; you’d never know how a person truly feels. In Williams’ case, not too many people knew his true struggles and what he was truly hiding underneath the laughs.

Thanks to social media and pop culture, now that Williams is gone it feels like a huge part of the entertainment world is missing. He is someone who can never be replaced, and his talent will be remembered for years to come.
