Florida Southern College has made the decision to cancel all Spring Break Junior Journey trips based on recent breaking news related to the spread of a coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19, according to an email from Dr. Mary Crowe, the Associate Provost for Experiential Education.

All students who were scheduled to go on a Spring Break Junior Journey trip received the email this afternoon regarding their trips.

“Our primary concern for every JJ trip is student safety,” the email read. “Out of an abundance of caution the College has decided this is the best course of action. “

Students affected by the cancellations will be able to stay on campus without charge for housing or meals over spring break.

The Travel Office is working with Student Life to put together activities for those who stay on campus over the break.

The email also said that the office will “be exploring a replacement JJ for you — but details at this point in time have yet to be put in place.”

No decisions have been made regarding Junior Journey trips that will be occurring in May.
