Student Government announced in a tweet this past Friday that students will now be charged for SafeRide after their second use of the program each semester.
This change was decided on at the first Senate meeting of the spring semester this past Thursday night.
Student Government President Caitlyn Johnson released a statement citing a “large culture of misuse” which has resulted in “significant budget problems for SGA.” SafeRide has taken away money from many places including club funding and SGA initiatives and the senators decided to discourage irresponsible use rather than subsidizing the problem.
Florida Southern students will be able to voice their thoughts on the issue at the next Town Hall which will be held on February 8 at 6pm.
