Following the FSC women’s soccer team’s elimination in the second round of the SSC playoffs, head coach Gerry Lucey announced his retirement. He plans to move to Long Island with his family at the end of the year. 

The phrase "defense is the best offense" sounds cliché, but that’s exactly what the FSC Women’s soccer team is proving this season. After finishing with a 5-7-5 record in 2024, the Mocs needed to turn things around and get back on track and they’ve done exactly that.

Expectations have always surrounded senior Donovan Smith, but he’s learned to harness the attention and turn it into success. Over the summer, a documentary directed by Leo Kloos titled "West$ide" was created about Smith’s basketball journey. 

The 2025 SSC Preseason Coaches Poll was recently released, listing FSC as the team to beat. After back-to-back years at the top, coaches around the conference believe they have what it takes to repeat again. FSC received 81 points in the voting, along with nine first-place votes.  Having high expectations is great, but the team isn’t putting much stock in these polls.
