Hurricane Milton made landfall as a category three hurricane in mid-October sending students scrambling to evacuate Florida Southern campus a week before fall break. That shift in plan caused by Milton not only affected the student base, but the student-athlete population, as well.

On Tuesday, April 15, the No. 11 men’s golf team secured the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Championship title, while the women’s golf team placed fifth. This is the men’s first SSC title in 15 years and 17th overall.

The team went 2-2 overall in the tournament, which took place in Fairbanks, Alaska.

“Coach Matt is the reason I am as good as I am today,” Giller said. “I think if you told me in high school that I’d be running the times I am right now, I think I would’ve just laughed. He’s a solid coach, he’s definitely a hard coach who will challenge you and work you very hard and I think that’s the reason we’ve been so successful is because of him.”

Paris Karastury, a 19-year-old sophomore from Northwestern, Pennsylvania who is on Florida Southern’s Equestrian team, traded out her riding helmet and boots for heels, diving  into the world of competitive body building, achieving successes and awards in the process. 

The Lady Mocs walked away from FSC Volleyball Classic at George Jenkins Field House Sept. 6 with a 2-1 starting streak. They dominated their first match against American International College, winning all three sets.
