Earlier this morning, around 10:30 a.m., the northeast side of Florida Southern’s campus lost power. Students located in Jenkins Residence Hall, Dell Hall, Miller Hall, and Hollis Hall experienced a complete loss of power, air conditioning, and WiFi network connection, alongside Publix Commons– more commonly known as the Greek Suites.
Both Mocs cross country teams took on the Jacksonville State University Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama last Friday, battling against NCAA Division I, II and NAIA programs.
On Sept. 12, Florida Southern English, Spanish and Honors students participated in the Transcribathon. The event took place in McKay Archives Center and has been an annual event on campus since 2018
This academic year, Florida Southern College is welcoming a new addition to its faculty: Dr. Vincent Miozzi, who joins the Barney Barnett School of Business & Free Enterprise as the Assistant Professor of Economics.
Florida Southern’s new Spikeball Club has quickly taken a liking to students on campus. Spikeball is the engaging game of roundnet that allows players to team-up and strategize, while also creating a positive social environment.

Many of Lakeland’s neighborhoods are built around the 38 named lakes, offering picturesque views and abundant outdoor activities. Downtown Lakeland is a vibrant area with various attractions and activities for both residents and visitors.
As a young Hispanic-American woman born and raised in the United States, my family’s story of immigration reflects both the challenges and the promise of this country. This is why having a president who genuinely cares about my future is not just important, but essential.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of traveling up to Gainesville to visit a close friend of mine and past Editor-in-Chief, Emma Poole. We went on a pretty ambitious five mile expedition in search of the illustrious wild bison that live in the Paynes Prairie State Park, the last wild herd in the state of Florida. We were observed by a deer hiding in the shade under some wild oak trees, and were constantly bombarded by swarms of flies, grasshoppers and mysterious buzzing sounds. Our shoes got soaked in mud, and sweat glistened on our faces. Although we did not get the opportunity to see any wild bison or horses, I am still so thankful for being able to explore a Florida State Park.

And with the Eras Tour, one of the most successful tours of all time, now wrapping up, Taylor has cemented herself as a pop culture icon. Artist Mally Khorasantchi explores the interplay of order versus chaos, beauty, danger and growth through pain in her immersive paintings. Khorasantchi’s exhibit, “Nature & Mystery: The Art of Mally Khorasantchi,” was showcased at Florida Southern’s Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art from June 15 to Sept. 15.

Natasha Lee Martin has joined Florida Southern’s faculty as the new Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts, Acting and Directing. Martin is originally from Providence, Rhode Island, and earned a B.A. in Theater at the University of New Mexico and an M.F.A. in Acting Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University.
