Junior Shannon McKew won her first career tournament title following a 2-hole playoff when the women’s golf team competed in the University of West Florida Argonaut Invitational.
McKew entered the final day of the competition in a three-way tie for fourth place. McKew was able to battle into first by shooting a four-over par 76 to create a three-way tie for first place.
In the first playoff hole, McKew and her competitors all made par-4 No.10. At the par-4 No. 11, McKew pulled ahead of the competition by making a birdie following a long put.
This marked McKew’s thrid top-five finish of the season. McKew’s win was the second consecutive FSC title win of the Argonaut Invitational which was won by Emily Rymer last season.
While Kolby McWilliams entered the tournament as an individual, prohibitting her scores from counting towards the Lady Mocs’ total, she became the third female FSC golfer to sink a hole-in-one. Her 147 yard shot on the first day of competition added to her total score of 82 on the weekend.
The Mocs will compete in the SSC Championships on April 17.
