Florida Southern College men’s basketball senior Slinky Jones has been selected as a participant for the 2019 Dark Horse Dunker Competition.
Jones is the first Moccasin to ever earn a spot in the competition.
The contest features 16 of the best “under-the-radar” dunkers. Based on fan votes, one will be sent to the 2019 College Slam Dunk Championship in Minneapolis during the week of the NCAA Division I men’s Final Four. Fans are able to vote on which one of the 16 will be sent through an online contest at www.DarkHorseDunker.com.
The contest is a four-week, bracket-style contest which allows fans to vote once per day, per device to send their favorite contestant to the College Slam Dunk Contest.
“It is a honor and I am thankful for even having a chance to represent my school and Division II basketball,” Jones said. “I’m looking to have fun and enjoy the experience but i would also be looking to win.”
The first round of voting starts on Feb. 19 and will run through the 26th. The second round runs from Feb. 27 to March 6. Semifinals run from March 7-14 and Finals run from March 15-22.
