Two theaters in the Lakeland area will be having special September’s coming up, with the Polk Theatre showing classic movies all month, and the Lakeland Community Theater staging musicals all month.
The Polk Theater, built in 1928, is a historic theatre located on South Florida Ave. It holds up to 1,400 people at each event. Every Sunday in September, the theater will show classic movies. Movies to be shown at the theater include Mary Poppins, A Hard Day’s Night, My Fair Lady and James Bond: Goldfinger. Movie ticket prices for an adult is $7, ticket prices for seniors (60+) and students with ID’s are $5 and children under twelve years old are $4.
The Lakeland Community Theater is staging live productions of musicals all month. The community theatre, located inside the Lake Mirror Theatre Complex, is heading into its twenty-eighth season performing in Lakeland. The performances will include the Graduate, the Addams Family, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Neil Simon’s Laughter on the Twenty Third floor and Cabaret.
The theater offers memberships for people who would like to see a variety of the main stage performances. The Main Stage Mini 4 membership for four main stage productions for the Community Theater is $66 for adults, $50 for students with ID, and $35 for children 12 years and under. The Main Stage Mini 3 membership, for three main stage productions of your choice, is $50 for adults, $40 for students with ID and $25 for children 12 years and under.
