FSC welcomes 18th President Dr. Jeremy P. Martin

Dr. Jeremy P. Martin, hailing from the heights of educational experience at William & Mary, was officially appointed to his position as president at Florida Southern College on Aug 1. Following the 20-year tenure of Dr. Anne Kerr, Dr. Martin shares his mission, philosophy and appreciation around the college.

Food Services changes the FSC dining experience

After major changes this school year, Florida Southern’s dining services, managed by Guest Services Inc., and the Office of Business Affairs face confusion as Wynee’s Bistro adopts an all-you-can-eat system and meal plans for residents are revamped.

Junior Journey takes Mocs around the world

Every year a group of students travel around the world together on their Junior Journey trip. Junior Journey is an opportunity that Florida Southern offers where students with junior credits get to choose a discounted price of the trips offered. Each student with junior credits gets the opportunity to go on one of the trips at a discounted price and then other trips if you choose to go on more will be at the full price of what the school offers. Trips with the Junior Journey discount range, depend on the trip and are  between $1,050 to $6,303, with payment plans offered. 

Fall 2024 Convocation reveals semester highlights

On Sept. 4, student organizations gathered to host Florida Southern’s annual fall convocation. The Student Government Association was introduced by student body president, Zion Virgil, followed by ACE, MSC (Multicultural Student Council), Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, Campus Ministries and Student Athlete Advisory Committee. The student organizations remain the focus of leading convocation, a new tradition brought in just last year. 

Residence Hall Association in early development

This fall, Community Living will be implementing the Resident Hall Association (RHA). This program will act separate from the Resident Advisor (RA) program and gives residents the opportunity to have a voice in decisions regarding residential communities.

Business-oriented horticulture major to start next fall

A new horticulture major is coming to Florida Southern in the fall, which includes a few different courses and a curriculum that focuses on the business side of agriculture. 

Florida intervenes with Texas’ conflict against the nation

Growing tensions between Texas and federal authorities continue as neither have come to a consensus on how to proceed with the rise in migrant crossers at the U.S.-Mexico border. Conflict ensues as protests break out throughout Texas and Florida sends their own State Guard members out to intervene.

Election season is here — are you prepared to vote?

As the first month of the new year has gone by, the big presidential election crawls closer. The long-awaited election will take place at the end of this year, and campaigns are already taking over the media. As November draws near, students are being encouraged to take action and utilize their right to vote.

IT Team works to combat campus network issues

School of Education Faculty member appointed dean

The School of Education has concluded its search for a permanent dean and selected Dr. Lori Rakes, an associate professor of 13 years at FSC, to fill the position.
