Robert MacDonald, Florida Southern College’s Director of the Festival of Fine Arts Series and internationally renowned pianist, died on Sept. 7 of respiratory failure.
MacDonald taught at FSC for 47 years. He also served as FSC’s artist-in-residence and music department chair.
Francisco Quixtan, a sophomore music education and clarinet performance major, found out through Facebook what had happened. Quixtan is a member of the Phi Mu Alpha the music fraternity, of which MacDonald was also a member.
The fraternity decided to dress in formal wear on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as wear black ribbons around their chapter pins.
“We want to honor him, even though he’s gone,” Quixtan said. “We still remember what he did for us.”
